1962 Cadillac Convertible
1962 Cadillac Deville Convertible.
** Off Market. Back in my Collection ** Original California car. Sold new in Pasadena California. First owner was Margery Hill the long time owner of the historic “Robert R. Blacker” home in Pasadena. This home is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is an extravagant example of a Greene and Greene Arts and Crafts design. More on the history of this house can be found searching “1177 Hillcrest Ave Pasadena”
Mrs. Hill was used to buying a new Cadillac every new model year. This was her first convertible and she was unhappy from the beginning with the increased road noise typical of a convertible. After 6 months she attempted to trade the car in for a hardtop Cadillac. When she learned she would not receive full value on this car she went next door to the Lincoln Dealer and traded it in for a new sedan.
The next owner, Tom B. was visiting the Lincoln dealer to check out the new “suicide doors” models when he spotted this car in front of the showroom, and decided the Cadillac was a much better looking car. While completing the sale that day he happen to meet his future wife while at the dealership.( they are still together !) As time went on the car was saved for its sentimental value and was used infrequently as a weekend driver from the early 70’s until I purchased the car in 2008. The car has been very well cared for and was always garaged. In fact it spent a lot of time stored in his Airplane Hanger. Service records show the car has been driven about 14,000 miles since 1972.
The car is all original with the exception of one Cadillac Dealer repaint in 1972 in the original color and a replacement top. It is loaded with factory options including Air Conditioning. The Leather Interior is original and in very nice condition. The car runs and drives wonderful. Have original sales invoice, owners manual and service book. Also a good amount of service records from the long time second owner. Any one considering a vintage Cadillac purchase would want to take a close look at this example...... Available at $24,500
